Apprenticeship Access Course: Maintenance Operations

The Certificate in Maintenance Operations is made up of units that provide learners with essential knowledge and practical skills to support future progress.

Training Programme

Units covered include:

  • Health & Safety and Manual Handling
  • 1st & 2nd Fix
  • Working at Heights
  • Scaffolding and Platforms
  • Working off Ladders
  • Structural Components
  • working on masonry
  • Building Legislation
  • Phase Testing

The aim of the course is to improve the learners opportunity of securing employment as an apprentice and every effort will be made by NWTC to find suitable companies.

Attendance is part-time, 2.5 days a week, for 12 months.

 

Recruitment Period

January to August. Most courses commence in September of each year.

Application Forms are available from schools, Connexions or direct from NWTC using the online application form.

 

Selection Test

You are required to sit a selection test.

You should have or hope to gain Grade D or above in GCSE Maths, English, Science and a Technical Subject.

Some evidence of practical ability and an interest in the construction industry would be an advantage.

 

Preliminary Interview

If you obtain the necessary grade in the Selection Test, you will be invited to attend an interview with out Training Officers before being offered a place on the course.
