Business Administration

Business Administration Apprenticeships normally last up to two years, during which time you will gain your Key / Functional Skills and Technical Certificates.  Most of your time will be spent with your employer completing your portfolio of evidence leading to a certificate of apprenticeship and NVQ level 2.

Training Programme

The NVQ Level 2 consists of 5 units and is assessed in the learners workplace. The learner
produces a portfolio of evidence that is used to prove competence on a variety of administration
duties e.g.

  • Handling a range of computer or paper based tasks relating to the routine aspects of running companies and organisations.
  • Working effectively with other team members, planning and organising work to meet requirements.
  • Filing, faxing, photocopying, dealing with mail, answering the telephone.

The Technical Certificate covers knowledge and understanding of the business world and the
activities that take place in a business organisation. Assessment is by assignment and a multiple
choice exam paper.

It will also be necessary to do Key / Functional Skills unless the learner is exempt which is
dependant on the GCSE grades they gained in English, Mathematics and Info Technology.

During the apprenticeship the company, which employs you, would normally pay you a percentage of the experienced persons rate for each year of training.
