Construction Apprentices Renovate Cottage
NWTC Construction apprentices have been renovating a cottage in Lunt for One Vision Housing over the past 18 months.
Good relations between NWTC and OVH have meant that our Construction apprentices have the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience and skills, and OVH will get the benefit of a fully refurbished cottage to house one of its tenants.
The past few months have seen the apprentices carry out a complete
refurbishment. All the old addled plaster has been removed, the ceilings have been dropped and the walls have been replastered with new ceilings inserted throughout. The property has been completely rewired, and floor joists and flooring have been replaced in the upstairs bedrooms. The old Plumbing has been removed, along with the old sanitation fittings, all the old skirting boards have been renewed, and new internal door casings, architraves and doors fitted in all rooms.
The apprentices are now working on fitting a new modern kitchen, new double glazed windows throughout, and a new modern bathroom. Once this has been completed, the out houses will be brought back to life, and an external brick wall built to finish the front garden elevation off. The grounds to the property can then be landscaped to complete the whole programme.
The apprentices working on this cottage are all programme-led learners
at NWTC and are seeking full time apprentice employment to complete their
NVQ’s. If you could offer a position to a plumbing, plastering, joinery,
bricklaying, electrical installation or gas fitting apprentice call us today on
