Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has launched a special skills exchange project with Uganda. The project has been developed in partnership with Liverpool Hope University and the Mountains of the Moon University in Fort Portal, Western Uganda, as well as the Volunteer Missionary Movement, a UK and Irish based charity.

North West Training Council Apprentice Thomas Hawkins has been awarded a City & Guilds Medal for Excellence for outstanding performance in the Engineering sector.

Our annual Apprentice of the Year presentation was held this year at Aintree Racecourse. It was a cold night but the Earl of Derby stand was very welcoming. Our guest speaker was Councillor Debi Jones.     
                     
Debi is a local councillor and was keen to take part in an event celebrating young peoples’ achievements and offered to compere the evening. Debi really kept the event moving and was a lively addition to the proceedings. Also in the main party was Dame Lorna E Muirhead DBE, Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Councillor Steve Rotheram, Mr R W Lofthouse OBE, NWTC Chairman, MR R L W Holme, NWTC Trustee Director, and our Chief Executive Mr P D Musa.
 
The evening is always an exciting time for both the winners and their families. Also NWTC staff who attend enjoy meeting the families of the learners they have supported throughout the year.
 
The winner of the Apprentice of the Year and the recipient of the R.W. Lofthouse Trophy was Kristopher Hesketh of W. Bibby Ltd.
