After being in operation for 27 years, the Abrasive Wheels Regulations were revoked from the 5th December 1998.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 Regulations have taken its place.
 
The guidance to Regulation 12 of this law states:
 
Providing information and training for workers in the correct handling and mounting of abrasive wheels, (including pre-mounting and storing procedures) is also necessary to reduce the risk of bursting“.
 
As an employer there is still a legal requirement to train all staff who use and change abrasive wheels.
 
NWTC have trained over 3,000 people in the correct procedures for the mounting and use of abrasive wheels.

to cater for Individuals within the gas industry.

 

Certificates of competency are required for CORGI registration in the areas of gas work intended.

Course Name : 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations Update

If you passed your 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations AFTER June 2001, you will qualify to just do a 1 day course and 1 hour exam, as opposed to a 3 day course with a 2 hour exam to obtain your 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certificate.

Formerly Inspection and Testing of Portable Appliances

Inspection and testing of electrical equipment should be carried out by persons who have adequate knowledge and experience of electrical work so as not to put themselves and others in danger. This is a requirement of the present legislation.

Please note there are two assessments. The first assessment is a practical test. You will be assessed during the course. The second is in the form of an on line multiple choice test. Basic use of a computer is required. (If you need some training on the use of a computer, this will be given to you free of charge on the day of the training course). The test is an open book test, candidates should purchase a copy of ‘Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment’ 3rd Edition. This multiple choice test will take place one week after the training course.
